9 Books published so far. 10th coming out in May 2010 (sookie universe collection of short stories coming out in Oct 09). Possibility for more books though; Harris was required by contract to write 10, but may write more.
at comic con she announced that she had a contract for 3 more books. (not including the one to be released in May of 10)
there are nine books so far,i hope there are more to come. i suggest reading them, they are awesome!!!!

The series is great, I don’t have cable at the moment so I keep looking to see when Ep 11 is online to watch lol. I feel horrible when I see it’s not online yet. I’ll keep checking back!
For those that haven’t read the books yet: READ THEM!! The series is great but the books let you into a lot more of what’s happening and you get a better feel for the characters.
I guess the thing I like about the series, is it lets you know whats happening from everyones perspecitive, where as in the books it is more like it is just from Sookies perspective.

Well while we are waiting…
OK so I read all of Charliane Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse books before I started watching TRUE BLOOD. At first I was really disappointed that the show didn’t follow the books more closely… but then when I went back and reread some of the books I realized that the show is SOOOOO much better than the books. The books are deathly boring in comparison to the show. I’m so glad Alan Ball is using his creativity to add some really substance to the show.

No way! the tv show is NOT as good as the books, what’s all this BS with Maryann she’s in the books for like 2 seconds, and how about Bill being good? And I hated that they made Godric so almigthy…. Plus no bubba in the tv show….

Ah Joe I don’t think they are whining. I think people just really like the show, stay up very late to see it, would probably buy HBO if they could and are just tired. People are just venting their frustration at not watching the ep not at the admins who they know are working very hard to put up the ep. Everyone is grateful for the people who put up the site. So, unless the moderator put you in charge while she is off working on putting up the ep, I’d leave it to the moderator to determine if people’s behaviour online is inappropriate. Maybe just wait and chat like the rest of us. If you don’t like someone’s comments, commenting on them yourself just draws people’s attention to it – sorta like I am doing right now I suppose..
i have read the whole series besides the last book and ive got to say i agree with you completely. i think the same exact thing….the books are kind of drawn out and boring when nothing is going on. but in this tv series, there is almost never a dull moment…its too bad there are only 12 episodes for each season.. i sure hope the finale for this season is good
tthe books are much better than the show!! and they make bill out to be so kind and protective to sookie but once u read the books u see the real side of bill

LOL No Bubba… yet… you notice they have changed some stuff around. Like Bill’s maker (sorry can’t think of her name right off hand) doesn’t actually show up until later in the books… not while Sookie and Bill are trying to find Godric. Personally I like the show’s version of Godric better just b/c he is more likable than the one in the book (b/c of his past). I can definately appreciate the books… I just like the complexity of the characters portrayed on screen even better.

i defiantley liked godric when he was first introduced, i was really upset when he was killed off, i havent read the series, but since watching the show i think i will, i feel the show doesnt give enough back story to the characters and i think theres a lot of details missing that would probably be elaborated on in the books, ive got to say though, i love the characters lafyette, jason and eric.
be careful with that b/c some of the characters in the book (like Tara) aren’t portrayed the same as they are in the show. and in the books lafayette dies at the end of the first one (i think…) so the show is carrying his character out much further than the book does.
yeah, ive heard that from a few people, but i think id still like to read the books. ive heard theyre really good, but they are a lot different from the show, so it might be a little confusing. thanks for your input on it though:)

The series offers the perfect cocktail of debauchery, violence & chimerical romaticism that a girl likes. You can tell who’s waiting with breath bated for this episode to air!

I sincerely enjoy the television program, but I haven’t read the books (nor am I in hurry to). Though I can say many works that seem amateur or adolescent in language make for easy, and oft engaging reads. Nothing wrong with taking one’s mind off the heaviness of life.
I was encouraged (by my recently deceased and sorely missed mother, the librarian) to read works of all “caliber”. And have found it to be very rewarding.
To be fair I think “anon” was mostly pointing-out how eagerly he/she awaits the viewing of episode 11.

Beware that they are not like Twilight, Vampire diaries, or True blood. Her books contain believable characters, romance, violence, action, and sex. Like I said her books are very adult. So if you want mushy romance then stick to Twilight, and The Vampire Diaries. Her books are closer to True Blood, but in my opinion much better. I love the True Blood show and the book series, just so you know. Twilight was good, the books were better. And I haven’t seen The Vampire Diaries. But all in all I think Laurel K Hamilton’s books out shine all of these books. You guys should read her books and tell me what you think. You may love them or may not, all depends what your in to.

Maybe, HBO is having a record # of people canceling their membership because of the economy so they are cracking down on illegal downloading and internet viewing.
Well now that you mention that, My friend has basic cable, and had Hbo, till last week, she says that monday, the hbo channel didn’t work on her tv anymore, and that there was only a message on the screen that said that HBO was no longer gonna be on regular analog cable, only on digital cable, and that if she wanted to have it back she had to get digital cable which of course its more expensive and crap like that!

Common sense dictates all the posts that mention calls are plants. Do you really think any “agency” is making an episode of a cable show such a priority that they have dedicated the amount of resources it would take to track down everyone who downloaded a file and call them in the middle of the night or early on a Sunday depending on where you live? It’s unlikely in the time frame mentioned it’s even possible for anyone to capture that number of IPs and do the appropriate investigation to determine who to call and what their number is.
I can’t say with 100% certainty as I haven’t even attempted to download it myself, but logic dictates it’s just a scare tactic.
An effective deterrent all the same. It does make me wonder how they manage to enforce internet copywrite laws and limit breaches. These “plants” freak me out even if they are scare-mongering devices.
They do enforce it in a rare number of cases, but it’s not something that happens often or in a matter of minutes/hours/days. When it does it happen it’s usually restricted to cases where they can prove an individual uploaded and intended to distribute multiple items.
This site makes scare tactics easy as you don’t even have to create a free account to post…just make up a screen name, email address, and poof anything can be said regardless of truth.

So i was disappointed by this episode. I wanted m ore action more to happen this episode felt like it was just filing in the blanks showing the passing of time – the only real developments are the back story of the maenads (unsure of its spelling) and the queen of louisiana.
However due to peoples earlier insistance on reading the books i have and am waiing for 4, 5, and 6 to be delivered. – they are really good although some characters are better portrayed in the show such as Godric!
