Sheriff Eric Northman and Puny Humans

“Humans. Honestly, Bill, I don’t know what you see in them.”
Eric’s first full sentence is Plaisir d’Amour is not only extremely funny, but also very significant for his attitude towards humans.
Apparently, Eric doesn’t think much of humans. The humans around seem to have the status of mere pets.
I wonder why killing his employee Ginger seems to be out of the question for him. When his employee Ginger freaks out at the sight of Longshadow being staked he asks Pam to glamor her. “It’s either that [glamor] or turn her.”
Any ideas why that is so?
Even at that early stage Eric seems to be taken with Sookie. He offers Bill exemption from prosecution in return for Sookie. Pam’s statement is another indication that Eric, too, is interested in Sookie” I am beginning to make the fuss is making over you.” I have the impression her comment includes Eric.
In Scratch My Back it even looks as if Eric envies Sookie and Bill. The way he looked when Sookie thanked Bill for his blood made me think he is impressed, maybe even a little bit touched by Sookie.
I believe he offered to give his blood to Sookie because he wanted to be connected with her.
Moreover, he seems to be less contemptuous of Lafayette than he was of the other humans in the dungeon. Especially when taking into consideration, how quickly he killed the other captives. When Lafayette was about to leave Eric did touch him tenderly. I couldn’t help the feeling that Eric was serious, when he told Lafayette, he’d see him again at Fangtasia. Lafayette looked creeped out at that time. It seems Eric has plans for Lafayette. I don’t think Lafayette was left there in the dungeon to die. What’ do think is going to happen?

Eric is growing on me. If what they tell about him and Lafayette is true it is going to be very interesting.
There will be a lot more of Eric before the series end! As for Lafayette, i think Eric intends on turning him but not before making him understand what it means to be a vampire in every horrible way!
The way Eric is portrayed in the books is far superior to the way he is on tv
I agree that Eric in the books is better than in the series. I have been looking at the episodes as if they are unconnected to the books. some things in the episodes are done better but mostly I prefer the books. I’m still completely addicted to the series though.
I do think the casting is fabulous on the series as well. I am waiting with baited breath for season three.
