In The First Taste we learn that his father Reverend Theodor Newlin, his wife and his baby got killed in a freak car accident on 1-49. From the start, suspicions are raised that vampires are responsible for his death.

When Sookie confronts Bill in Mine with this, it seems to me, that he believes so, too. If he knew else, he surely would tell her.

That solution always seemed to easy to me. Don’t get me wrong. I am convinced that vampires are capable of such an act and worse. This one just looked to me as if it was meant to be pinned on vampires.

When watching this Scratch My Back my hunch grew who that someone might be that is responsible for Theodor Newlin’s murder.

Quoting again Steve Newlin: “My father’s death was an assassination, pure and simple. A killing meticulously planned, ruthlessly executed. From there, all we have to ask is who stands the most to gain.”

It may sound weird, but he really profits from his father’s death. Besides that he takes over his father’s place, he can also conveniently put the blame on vampires and hope for increasing hate against them.

Obviously his father had a new wife with a new baby daughter. I can easily imagine that Steve was jealous. Whatever happened, I am pretty sure, his wife is the driving force.

Now doesn’t that woman in the screenshot look like a step-monster step-mom to you?
